Recently I attended an area historians' meeting and during that time, I realized that our Local History Room has a wealth of information such as:
Presbyterian church minutes, memberships, births, marriages, deaths.
McGrawville Baptist Church records including memberships, minutes, photographs, history.
Family genealogy information, obits, scrapbooks containing human interest stories, WW2 veterans news-paper articles & photographs, clubs & organizations just to mention a few.
Our photograph files include businesses, people, residences, trollies & railroads, fires, floods, clubs, schools including New York Central College, the Union school, the Academy & the current elementary & Jr.-Sr. high school & churches.... just to name a few. Four filing cabinets contain general files going from "A" for info on aerial photos of the village to "Z" for Zoning Board, Village of McGraw.
Bookcases hold City Directories, Lamont Memorial Library minute books, scrapbooks of the 1969 and 1976 village celebrations, minute books of organizations such as the 20th Century Club, Nightingales & Cortland Extension Club, biographies & autobiographies of local families and individuals.
This is just a small listing of our research materials. Any questions? I can be contacted at 607-836-6738 or email me at email@example.com.
